Gray Hat hackers are in between White Hat and Black Hat hackers. In addition, they do not always adhere to the law, which is different from the Black Hats, but they also don’t have malicious intent.

A Gray Hat individual may identify a flaw in a company’s system, which they do not have permission to do, and report back to the company at sometimes they may put forth a fee for the remediation. They generally do not break in or steal data but at the same time, their actions may not be ethical or legal.
